Teacher & Performer

two of my favorite things

Creativity and Connection

For over 17 years Jered has been spreading his passion for Lindy Hop, Balboa, Blues & Jazz idiom dances throughout Europe, North America, and Asia.

As a teenager in the 1990s (please don’t do the math) he was instantly hooked on the rhythms, creativity, and connection possible to the Swing and Blues music he was raised on. Training with the top instructors, joining performance groups, and traveling extensively, he’s dived deep into the roots of the dances that have captivated him.

And Today

Whether working as an Instructor, Performer, Choreographer, or Competition Judge his aim is always the same — to inspire and challenge while pushing himself too. His intense joy of dancing is contagious and it has lead to international festivals, theatre stages, and numerous TV appearances.

He’s noted for his extensive study of the history and culture behind the dances, combined with a sharp eye for quality body movement and natural use. With those tools he shares with students how to create something impressive and – even more so – self-expressive on the dance floor.

Investing in the Scene

Behind-the-curtain is where Jered does one of the things he cherishes most: building and growing dance scenes. Watching the changes in popularity and skill-level of Swing & Blues idiom dances over almost two decades and numerous countries, he enjoys sharing that background and insight with local organizers to help them shape their scene.

Increasing class attendance, shaping developmental schedules, expanding to a wider audience, and keeping students engaged are just a few things he has worked with communities on. Organizing major international festivals is also a passion, from celebrating Frankie Manning’s 100th Birthday to continuing to run MezzJelly Blues Weekend since 2004.

He also works with dancers off the floor to expand awareness via Dance History Workshops, Video Presentations, and his Dance Blog.

and hopefully yours soon,

I’ve danced for four years… Your [class] was the first time I could actually FEEL my center move and how it affects my partner.

Ross – Zurich, Switzerland

I attended my first dance class ever - it was fun! Jered’s relaxed, open style created a perfect class for any amount of previous training.

Rebecca - Berlin, Germany

Jered changed the way I dance in one freaking class.

Brian - Boston, MA

Thank you for an amazing weekend full of inspiration, fun and dance, dance, dance! Bad-ass teaching made us have an extraordinary time!

Kathleen – Heidelberg, Germany

I’m still buzzing! Great classes thank you so much, and I loved watching you dance!
